The John F. Kennedy Library, the main library of Piscataway Township opened on August 2, 1965. The library currently occupies 28,000 square feet, and houses approximately 135,984 volumes of books. The library receives copies of the minutes of the meetings of many municipal boards and commissions.
It circulates a sizeable number of book cassettes, CDs and videos. Special collections include the Local History Collection, the Parenting Collection, the World Language Collections and the Silkotch Art Book Collection.
Kennedy Library has 8 terminals with online catalogs for convenient access to its print and non-print materials. The catalog can also be accessed via home Internet terminals. We have word processing stations and Internet terminals in both the children's and the adult/young adult sections of the Library.

Kennedy Library offers three meeting rooms to non-profit community organizations during library hours. The library is the headquarters for many popular volunteer programs such as English as a Second Language and Tax Assistance. We also feature concerts, lectures, and other presentations throughout the year. Check KIDS KAPERS, TEEN SCENE and ADULT HAPPENINGS, for current library programs.
