Library Director
The Board of Trustees of
Piscataway Public Library is seeking a library director who can continue to
build and lead a strong, innovative library system with enthusiasm, energy,
vision, and a dedication to superior library service. The successful candidate
will have good communication skills, flexible and innovative thinking, and
knowledge of emerging technologies. Piscataway
is a culturally diverse community of 52,000 near Rutgers University with a main
library and branch, an annual budget of $3 million and a staff of 37.4 FTEs.

The Director reports to the
Board of Trustees and is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the
Library, development and implementation of the strategic plan, budget
preparation, and program development. The
position requires the ability to represent the Library and to collaborate with
local officials, the Friends of the Library, the Board, staff, and local
community organizations. Knowledge
of NJ Library law is a plus. Our ideal candidate will have supervisory
experience in a multi-library system, experience with long-range planning,
proven fiscal ability, and a passion to lead a dynamic organization.
Requirements:

ALA accredited MLS plus eligibility for NJ Professional
Librarian’s Certificate

Minimum of 10 years of post MLS experience, 7 as
supervisor

Knowledge of current library and information technology

Physical capacity travel to meetings in NJ and out of
state

Ability to communicate clearly and courteously with the
public and staff both in person and in writing
Base Salary:
negotiable from $89,232 commensurate with experience.
