Supervising Librarian - Adult/Young Adult Department
Piscataway Library is seeking a leader with good communication skills,
innovative thinking, and knowledge of new technologies for the Adult/Young Adult
Services Department. The successful
candidate will provide excellent service to a culturally diverse community of
52,000 with a main library and branch.
Responsibilities include: Leading
and developing a staff of 3 full time and 2 part time librarians.
Supervises collection development, reference and readers advisory,
programming for adults and young adults. Responsible for budget development and
monitoring, performance evaluations and training, and scheduling.
Serves as a key member of the Strategic Planning Team to develop
library-wide goals and objectives. Active
participation in professional organizations and committees.
Requirements:
- ALA accredited MLS plus NJ Professional Librarian’s Certificate
- Minimum of four years of post MLS experience
- Knowledge of current library and information technology
- Physical capacity of handling active, ambulatory reference work and
traveling to meetings
- Ability to communicate clearly and courteously with the public and staff
both in person and on the telephone
Hours: 35 hours per week, including some evening and
weekend hours
Base Salary: from
$62,466.47 commensurate with experience. Excellent
