The Library offers programs and materials for people
who may require special services to meet their information needs.

Outreach
Through this program, Library staff members will provide books and other materials to homebound individuals.
Materials for the Visually Impaired
 
The Library offers a sizeable collection of large print books and audio books for those who are visually impaired.  Print magnifiers are also available at both Kennedy and Westergard Libraries.

Equipment for the Hearing Impaired

 
Piscataway Library is a New Jersey Deaf Resource Center and loans out telecommunication devices for the deaf (TTYs), closed captioned decoders, assistive listening devices and wireless auditory assistance kits.

Literacy

Piscataway Public Library supports literacy with an up-to-date collection of print and non-print English as a Second Language (ESL) and Basic Reading materials for adults and children; ESL Conversation Groups for adults; and study guides for the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) for adults.

As a partner in literacy, the  Literacy Volunteers of Middlesex (LVM) provides free Basic Reading and English as a Second Language tutoring for adults at the Library by appointment.  For more about LVM and their programs visit their web site at www.lva-middlesex.org.
