Honor and Memorial Gifts

A gift made in one’s name is always a meaningful way to mark a special occasion or to remember or honor a beloved family member, respected friend, or colleague.

When you contribute $25 or more to the Piscataway Public Library, your name, or the name of the person you choose to honor, will be printed on a bookplate and placed in a new book that will circulate throughout the Piscataway Library System.

Become a Friend of Piscataway Public Library

The Friends of Piscataway Library are looking for new members for 2011!  Memberships start as low as $5.00 for the year.  Join for $25.00 or more, and a book will be gift-plated in your honor or in memory of someone important to you. 

Friends Recognize the value of a strong Public Library as a community resource; Supplement Library services through donations and fundraising events; Sponsor special programs; and Encourage community and township support.  Benefits of a  Friends' Membership include:

1. Home mailing of the Library's News & Events newletter!
2. First Pick at the Book Sale on Preview Nights
3. Support of a dynamic, proactive community Library!

Book Sales

The Friends of Piscataway Public Library host two major book sales each year to raise funds to support the library.  The next major book sale is:

  • Thurs. April 19 Preview night 6:30 - 8:30 pm (Members of the Friends of Piscataway Public Library only)
  • Fri.     April 20  Sale 10 am - 4:30 pm
  • Sat.    April 21  Sale 10 am - 4 :30 pm
  • Sun.   April 22 Sale 1 - 4:30 pm
  • Mon.  April 23   Bag Sale 4 - 8:00 pm

The Friends also stock two YEAR ROUND mini book stores at each branch.

Donate Materials

Friends of the Piscataway Public Library welcomes your donation of all books except the following:

-Books that are damp or moldy
-General encyclopedias (World Book, Britannica, etc.)
-Legal statutes and casebooks
-National Geographic and Smithsonian magazines

In addition to books, we gladly accept donations of media and assorted printed material, including:

-Audio CDs, including Children's music and audiobooks
-DVDs and Blu-ray discs.
-Textbooks and Professional Publications (but not more than 10 years old)
-Computer Books (last 2 years)

Volunteer at Piscataway Public Library

The library has two busy locations which provide service to the community over 120 hours a week.  The Piscataway Public Library lent over 490,000 items and had over 448,000 visitors in 2007/2008, making Piscataway Public Library one of the busiest libraries in New Jersey.
